Clocked some Canvas backs this morning

By Gildas | April 16, 2010

Clocked some Canvas backs this morning at 46 mph in my truck while they flew beside me on the lake.. man they are fast.

I noticed a big difference in the amount of birds around this spring from last year's number. We are 1 month or more ahead of last year's spring and i think they could fly farther north this year so that is why there are fewer pairs around. I like that, we'll get em on the way back.

Those Cans were sure in a hurry to get somewhere and they were heading north.

  • Spring Duck Hunting Update - Ducks are here! Seen 10 drake greenheads together today, and some divers off looking for some open water. It was nice to see some ducks finally as the Canada geese have flying low over head the past 2 weeks.
  • Looking for Deer sheds - Spent Sunday looking for deer sheds and didn't find any. I don't think they all dropped yet because there have been a few bucks seen still sporting their head gear.
  • Waterfowl hunting 2009 - Duck hunting weather is now here and we are seeing many birds show up on the start of their fall migration.
  • Fall Duck Hunting - We're still hunting! It is mid Oct. and we are doing very well on ducks. Seems the migration is late again this year by about 2 weeks.
