We are the only Lodge and Outfitter in Manitoba that still specializes in Diver Duck hunting from boats over decoys. We have the equipment and knowledge to Safely hunt the big water and inside lakes and marshes. We hunt divers and puddle ducks in the same day, as you can see in our photos pages, 10 species shoots are very common. We have a friendly Lodge rule to shoot drakes only. We specialize in water hunts but also deliver exceptional field shoots for geese and ducks. These hunts are offered a few mornings out of a week in some of our many fields that hold birds. I personally know many of the farmers in the Parkland and Swan Valley area and getting permission on the barley and wheat fields is never a problem. We have always had success on our field shoots. We hunt from FA layout blinds and stand up blinds over shell and sock decoys. We typically target Canada geese and often get a chance at flocks of Snows during a hunt. The goose hunting is every bit as good as the duck hunting, but requires a 4:00 am wake up time and possibly a 1 hour drive to the fields. A bit of calling and wave of a flag is all that is needed to fill limits in as quick as a half hour. After the field shoot we hit the water or the trails to fill remaining limits of ducks or bag a few grouse. Where else can you fill each day with that much hunting?

Riverside Lodge has been outfitting waterfowl trips since 1961 and the hunting is as good as it ever was.

We adhere to all game laws and provide ethical fair chase hunts. The hunting is very much like it was many years ago, not much has changed, only the hunters and equipment. A few of our guides have been working here for 20+ years and have seen a lot of things but yet nothing surprises them. We are all professionally trained and licensed Manitoba hunting guides. Mother nature will always keep it interesting making every hunt a new experience. We call this "The University we never graduate from".

Riverside Lodge and area is well known for the tremendous duck migrations which historically take place each fall on our major flyway for as many as 15 species of ducks alone. It is a natural flyway for the migration from the north. The big lake acts as a magnet to the flocks of birds on their way south, giving them a place to stage and feed while they wait the cold winds. No place else provides these hunting opportunities for such a diverse style of hunting. Our staff will take you to places that will simply amaze you. Either out on the big water of Lake Winnipegosis or into the marsh connected by rivers and lakes and Islands. There is always a place to hunt no matter how rough the weather is. Crowded hunting spot, not here!

We are very aware that traveling hunters want to find a place that is void of people and human disturbances, and that is exactly the kind of hunting trip you will get at Riverside Lodge. Due to the remoteness and sheer size of the area other hunters are not a problem. You will feel as though you "have the place to yourself" each day. Upon returning from the afternoon hunt you will sit down to a very hearty dinner which resembles a holiday meal. We serve up terrific meals of duck such as "7 hour roast duck" and "Duck poppers" throughout the week. After dinner you can retire to your quiet private cabin or stay up and visit in our Log gazebo which has satellite TV and several comfortable arm chairs and sofas with a hot wood stove burning that tends to bring out the story teller in everyone.

We also need to mention that we have been recommended by many hunters who are actively restricted that our hunts require a very low effort to experience a World Class hunting trip.

Dogs

Well behaved dogs are always welcome here and can stay in the cabins kenneled in their travel crate.

Packages

We offer guided hunts only, 3-5 day hunts all inclusive. Custom hunt packages available. Call for details.
