White Tail Hunting :: Deer Hunting

Canada Whitetail HuntingRiverside Lodge Whitetail Deer hunting trips take place in 700,000 acres of uninhabited forest (Swan-Pelican Provincial Forest) where there are no roads, just trails. This area lies between the famous Duck Mountain Prov. Park and big Lake Winnipegosis. The area is known to produce very big deer with 180-200's a real possibility, which is what keeps many serious hunters coming back. We have tree stands placed along open meadows, at natural funnels, at a junction near bedding and feeding areas, or over looking a rub/scrape line. How about a river crossing that is the only shallow crossing for 8 miles and the deer need to cross there to avoid thin ice on the deep river, places like those can produce some fine hunting. The physical landscape of the forest is made up of many natural travel routes that the deer habitually use year after year. Due to low spots, lakes, swamps, high ridges, we can set up where the deer want to be and take advantage of natural funnels and crossings. We pattern Rutting Bucks and feeding does to help us decide when to hunt a stand. Most of these deer have not seen a human before! Another rare feature we have is the area's rich mineral springs and salt springs/licks. This combined with strong genetics produce huge antlers and also make for great stand placements as the animals frequent these locations. For rifle hunters we use natural vegetation to build our stand blinds and our comfortable 4' by 3' tree stands are custom built for ample room and Safety. Shots from 50 yards out to 300 are possible. Since November rut weather can be very cold at times we have been adding custom heated stand blinds and ground blinds, plus some portables to move quickly when we are being outsmarted. We don't really ever stop hunting and spend the entire year tracking and noting deer behavior using the info to give us the "edge". When all things come together, you will get a chance at a heavy non typical Manitoba Monster Buck. As are all of our hunts, you will have an adventure like no other. If you are ready for real Canadian Fair Chase Whitetail deer hunting, then let's talk about a hunt.

Deer Hunting

We are experienced professional hunting guides who are very proud of our work. We know the area and the Deer.

Our equipment is also in very good condition and diligently maintained to ensure a Safe experience. With a fleet of ATV's, Snowmobiles and all kinds of other off road vehicles we always have a way to hunt.

Bonus! The main predator of these animals are the Timber Wolves, not humans. So if you see a wolf, shoot it! Your deer license allows you to take one wolf before your Deer

Know why Manitoba Deer grow so big?

It is true there are places where you may see a few more deer in a day, but not many places that can boast about as big of deer! Our deer live a long time, in fact most will die of old age. The Whitetail Deer suffer almost no vehicle encounters as there is a very low usage highway on the southern boarder of our allocation and no other vehicle roads. There is plenty of water, food and cover, all the things they need to thrive. The hunting pressure is almost nonexistent and the chance of seeing another hunter out here is slim to none. The area is very big, 1200 sq. miles, very difficult to navigate and getting lost is sure unless you have the knowledge and equipment for the area.

This deer was shot this fall 2007, 20 miles west of our bush!
Now it's your turn, call us to book your chance.

Now be sure to go to the hunting trip page. There is more good information on your next deer hunting trip.

Manitoba is gaining recognition for it's fantastic Whitetail hunting. Not only great opportunities but when you harvest a mature buck in Manitoba, it is the epitome of Fair Chase, with some cold temperatures thrown in for good measure. You can be extra proud of your ability to kill a mature Buck on it's terms, in the wild, on a Fair Chase Hunt. As all hunters know, it is no easy task fooling a Whitetail Buck, arguably the most difficult game animal in North America to kill, so when you hang your Manitoba Trophy Whitetail on the wall, hang it high, because it stands out among the rest. There are trophy deer and there are Manitoba Trophy Deer, be extra proud.
